Pennine GPST scheme

Welcome to Pennine GPST scheme, where we have been delivering GP training for over 15 years. We have 45 Registrars in our scheme supported by over 20 Trainers, three Programme Directors and two administrators.

We offer innovative 4 month hospital posts at Calderdale and Huddersfield Royal during ST1 and ST2 allowing you to experience a wide range of specialties. In addition, the GP posts in ST2 are flexible, in that you can be released on a part time basis to experience a variety of specialties e.g. hospice care.

Throughout your training we run a weekly half day release education programme which involves small group work and larger workshops exploring areas of the curriculum which are not covered by workplace based placement. In addition to its educational aspect it offers an opportunity to meet your colleagues, ‘chew the fat’ and compare experiences.

Our Training practices are situated in Calderdale and Kirklees offering GP placement in small town and rural settings. Furthermore, you have access to the rolling Pennine hills but remain close to the cities of Huddersfield, Halifax, Bradford, Leeds and Manchester with all that these super cities have to offer.
