Minor Surgery: basic 2 day course (10th & 11th of March 2009)COURSE CONTENT: • Basic surgical technique (including instruments, sutures, needles and suturing) • Approach to skin lesions (including pigmented lesions), diagnosis and treatment • Joint and periarticular injections • Diagnosis and treatment of cysts, lipomas, ingrowing toenails • Miscellaneous surgical techniques • Local anaesthesia • Infection control (including sterilisation of instruments etc) • Resuscitation (emphasising the need to maintain skills) • Anatomical problems and pitfalls. The excellent London RCGP Preparation Course for the CSA Module (17th & 18th of December)A must for anyone sitting the nMRCGP, this two day preparation course familiarises delegates with the assessment process for the CSA module. At the end of the course, you will: have an understanding of the consultation model, be able to apply ethical frameworks to clinical situations, have gained experience in consulting with simulated patients, develop an understanding of how the cases are marked. There is a pool of ten mock cases being used in courses nationwide. Delegates should bear this mind if they have already attended a similar course. RCGP members: £330, non Members: £450.

Consultation Skills (4th of November)One Day Consultation skills course entitled `Increase your effectiveness & reduce your risk`. It is suitable for Registrars, GPs, Nurses and allied health professionals who wish to extend their own consultation skills. Cost £140 - contact Fiona for more details.

Another CSA preparation Course (16th and 23rd of September)Yorkshire Deanery are running nMRCGP CSA Preparation Seminars in Harrogate for GPStRs and their Trainers on Tuesday, 16th September and Tuesday 23rd September 2008 at The White Hart Hotel in Harrogate.
At the seminar you will have a chance to find out what the CSA will be like, to practise consultation skills with a simulator, and to undertake a short CSA surgery with feedback. Contact Leanne for more details or to apply for the course or complete the application form (click).
