Welcome to Pennine GPST

Welcome to Pennine GP Training...

... and welcome to our website, dedicated to people like you who are starting on the GP journey.

Dip in and you will find a wealth of information about us, our unique approach, the range of training we offer and a taste of what a spell in the glorious Pennines can be like. Plus lots and lots of valuable and practical downloads.

Innovative training in an idyllic setting

Our innovative Training Programmes offer GP placement in rural and small town settings, and a wide variety of hospital posts in Halifax and Huddersfield. Unlike most training programmes, our hospital placements are for four months, giving you an opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of specialties during ST years 1&2.

We don't talk gobbledygook

Don’t worry about the hideous acronyms like nMRCGP, or the arcane language of Workplace Based Assessment. Our website cuts through the gobbledygook and helps you get to grips with the processes you will be going through - so you'll know the difference between your COTs and MSFs and your CSRs from your ESRs!

Getting the most out of your investment in training...

We have a stimulating weekly Half Day Release education programme covering a diverse range of topics that complement your work-based education. Our Programme Directors and GP Trainers ensure that you will get the full potential out of your education opportunities.

Our Registrars play a key role in updating and maintaining the website, so why not have a look at their recommendations for things to do and places to eat - or have a browse through of some of our popular pages, downloads or links.

Restaurants on your doorstep
A wealth of restaurants on your doorstep

So where are we....?

... right here between the Dales and the Pennines. Pennine GPST Programme covers Calderdale and Kirklees, nestling between the Dales and the Peak District. It's like stepping into a TV filmset.

You have access to the Last Of the Summer Wine country, where you can enjoy semi-rural general practice while still having modern shopping centres, fabulous restaurants and a throbbing nightlife on your doorstep in places like Huddersfield, Halifax, Leeds and Manchester.
