SMART PDP entries (click) - 2010 You are expected to log about 12 PDP entries per year. Some of these will be decided around ST year induction, as part of your small group work. This leaves just under one a month for you to identify important broad learning needs which require a range of actions to address them. The SMART model was developed by psychologists as a tool to help people set and reach their goals. It’s a simple approach that lends itself to creating good PDP entries in your e-portfolio.
The curriculum and curriculum matching (click) - 2009 Utilising the broad principles of the GMC’s Good Medical Practice the curriculum defines the core knowledge, skills and attitudes that a GP Trainee have to attain by the end of their training in order to become a competent GP. It also allows you to assess whether your curriculum matching is valid. Just open the document and click on the statement headings and explore the domains of the 'statement' to find out what it means and how you might achieve it.
Curriculum - self assessment rating scale (click) 2008 A useful tool for identifying your learning needs which goes into much greater detail than the e-portfolio 'curriculum coverage' section.
Curriculum guide for hospital posts (click) 2009 It is produced by NHS Scotland for GP registrars, and looks at each hospital post you might do, and how to achieve areas of the GP curriculum that are relevant to each post. Very helpful for filling in your PDP at the beginning of each new post.
