Pennine GP Home » About us » Time Out

Pennine GPST scheme covers Calderdale and Kirklees, situated between the Dales and the Peak District. Our wonderful location means that you have access to the rolling Pennine hills but remain close to the cities of Huddersfield, Halifax, Bradford, Leeds and Manchester.

Time out?

Our villages may look like TV locations (Last of the Summer Wine and Heartbeat were filmed here), but we don't all eat tripe and onions and there's more to sport than black pudding hurling! Check out our Registrars' recommendations - everything from the Great Outdoors to fantastic bistros.

Sightseeing

Halifax is a wonderful former mill town with fascinating architecture. Go and see the remarkable Piece Hall quadrangle and its amazing array of boutique shops set into the 18th century building. Other attractions include Shibden Hall, first built in 1420s and set in extensive grounds where you can picnic and watch people boating on the lake or take a trip around the house and gardens.

Or why not take a look at some of the neighbouring famous villages such as Holmfirth (Last of the summer wine), Heptonstall or Hebden Bridge. ‘Hippy Hebden’ enjoys a national reputation as a liberal, artistic and creative community with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and was voted funkiest place to live in Europe by British Airways’ in-flight magazine, “High Life”!
